As social media continues to change how people communicate it also is having some adverse affects on the fashion industry. Data now shows consumers are returning wears more than ever.
According to UK credit card firm Barclaycard, 10% of British online shoppers are purchasing clothes with the intent of showing off for their followers and promptly requesting a refund. Aptly called “snap and send back.” the trend has gained popularity over the last few years and apparently these clout chasers have no shame in their ways.
A survey that polled 2,002 adults showed that the men are the biggest culprits with one in five openly admitting they flaunted “leased” products. Additionally the numbers show they are more likely to embarrassed seen in an outfit they have previously worn. The most popular item purchased by these males you ask? Pricey watches.
“It’s interesting to see the social media trend further fueling the returns culture. We know from our research that returns are having a big impact on retailers, with a huge figure of seven billion pounds a year in sales that they potentially can’t recognize” stated George Allardice, Head of Strategy, Barclaycard Payment Solutions.
The credit provider also cites that a widely adopted “try before you buy” policy used by online merchants may also be contributing to the craze. “Retailers are adopting new processes to make returns easier as they know how important this is to customers. But to ensure shoppers are getting more wear out of their clothes – for posting on social media or for those real-life moments – retailers could think about introducing more varied photography and video content to their websites” Allardice theorized.
Other key takeaways include that the biggest offenders are in the 35-44 age group and British men spend more on clothing than women on a yearly basis.

Dwyane Wade might be on his way out as an elite ballplayer in the NBA, but he is definitely in the Fade Administration Hall Of Fame in our books. After Jimmy Butler dropped Wade’s wife Gabrielle Union a rather thirst-heavy comment on a photo, Wade let that Chicago strong hand loose and let his basketball combatant know it’s on sight if he slips again.
How it all started, Union dropped off a photo via Instagram from a location in Italy in a wet t-shirt and bikini bottoms, prompting Butler to drop a comment of “WELL DAMN!!” on the ‘Gram. D Wade, who last played for the Miami Heat and a former teammate of Butler with the Chicago Bulls, was ready for all the smoke after he let the Minnesota Timberwolves star know that he has one more time to drool over his woman via Butler’s IG page.
“Put well damn in caps on my wife photo again and you’re gonna see what the good, bad and the ugly is like,” Wade said in the comments on Butler latest IG post.
Twitter is on fire right now and D Wade is trending for reasons. Basically, folks, don’t talk crazy on Gabrielle Union’s page. Show some respect.

While Nas might be one of the greatest wordsmiths to ever live, he would never be accused of being active in today’s world of social media. On Thursday (Sept. 6), the veteran Queens rapper unloaded a seven-post tirade via Instagram blasting his ex-wife Kelis and denying domestic abuse allegations she unveiled earlier this year.
In a free-flowing style, the artist born Nasir Jones used a Black photo and used the caption space as his virtual diary. From the onset, it was understood that Nas was ready for the smoke, the meat off the grill, and the pitcher of red kool-aid to boot.
“The Price i Pay To See My Son. And apologies in advance for the typos as I am speaking from the heart as a man who has had enough,” Nas opened in the first of the posts. “Today i got a call from essence about my ex wife doing another sad fictitious story. Nothing surprises me anymore, including this. This is what your life has come to sis?”
He added, “Exploiting some people’s Real struggle and pain…just to get at me….to get attention ? Fame? Another fight against men? We are a human family and we should be better examples for our son. Why is there even a issue for me to have time with my son. A son needs his father. So many absentee fathers out here and here i am being attacked by your accusations simply because i got us in court to help fix this the custody matter?”
The former couple’s son, Knight, appears to be caught in the crossfire of his parents’ feud and Nas illustrated in his posts that he views as Kelis as the problem.
“After 10 years of keeping my silence during a decade of dealing with very hostile behavior and verbal abuse and even your stepfather holding you back from one of your physical violent Attacks on me right outside your house THIS YEAR while trying to pick up our son while he watched from the window, it was my weekend and you denied me that because your parents were in town. I just went home. This has been my life for my son’s entire life. Even our son wonders why you treat me the way you do,” Nas shared in a post.
It’s a lot to take in, to be perfectly hoenst. Nas did end the salvo by saying it was going to be the first and last time that he would address the matter to the public.
Thus far, Kelis has yet to respond.

While 50 Cent has maintained his elite troll status for years now, it appears he may have finally met his match. After Fif threw some now-deleted Instagram jokes out towards Busta Rhymes, the “Dungeon Dragon” took a break out of his busy schedule to turn the tables on the G-Unit boss.
In a now-deleted tweet, 50 Cent posted a photo of Busta in concert captioned with, “And the award for the strongest neck in Hip Hop go’s to Busta Bus Yay LOL!”
Fif then posted a text exchange, also deleted, between him and Casanova with the Brooklyn rapper advising his Queens collaborator to chill on coming at the Long Island veteran. Lastly, Fif posted a photo of Busta and Big Fendi writing that the pair were “trying to have me killed” and that he was going to the United Kingdom to “lay low.”
It appears it might just be fun and games despite Busta Rhymes’ strongly-worded response although the disappearance of Fif’s posts could suggest that Bussa Bus wasn’t feeling it. However, Fendi seemed to take the jokes in stride and posted a slight response.
Perhaps it’s time to “Get The Strap,” eh?
You can view both responses below.

Anderson .Paak is preparing to release his latest album Oxnard to the masses, and he has the powerful cosign of Aftermath Records behind him. In an epic photo, the singer and all-around musical talent posted a photo to Instagram featuring his label boss Dr. Dre and Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest in what some might be hoping means a collaborative effort of sorts.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, .Paak seemed confident that Oxnard was going to take listeners back to a time where Hip-Hop albums were event moments. Some might know that .Paak began his career as a rapper under the moniker Breezy Lovejoy, and his new record promises a return to his roots. But what is turning heads for many is the photo and what it could mean for the latest project.
In the photo, Q-Tip and Dr. Dre pose serenely behind him with the caption reading, “Take a second to appreciate what’s happening around you..,” but that doesn’t suggest Q-Tip or Dr. Dre hopped on the boards although it’s tough to imagine why they wouldn’t.
In another photo posted to Dr. Dre’s IG page, Tip and the Doc are seen holding the other artist’s respective classic vinyl LPs in their hands in a brotherly show of respect between two of Hip-Hop’s most vital artists.
Perhaps this is a signal that Q-Tip, who has a project coming via G.O.O.D. Music titled The Last Zulu at an undetermined release date, is back on his musical grind too. One can hope.

Silicon Valley was rocked yesterday (Sept.24) with the news of Instagram’s co-founders officially stepping down from the popular photo-sharing app.
You can now add Instagram’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Systrom and Chief Technical Officer Mike Krieger to the growing list of CEOs leaving their companies after Facebook purchased them. The move comes after Bloomberg reported tension between the two men and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. Systrom confirmed their exit from Instagram in a statement revealing “we’re planning on leaving Instagram to explore our curiosity and creativity again.”
“Mike and I are grateful for the last eight years at Instagram and six years with the Facebook team. We’ve grown from 13 people to over a thousand with offices around the world, all while building products used and loved by a community of over one billion. We’re now ready for our next chapter.”
Systrom and Krieger join Jan Koum, the founder of the messaging tool WhatsApp who also left the company earlier this year after being acquired by Facebook. Koum made his exit amid concerns about the amount of data the social media platform was collecting from users.
Will be interesting to see the direction Instagram goes with their departures.

We’ve been down this road before. Kanye West seems to have once again deleted (probably more like deactivated) his Twitter and Instagram.
Both of West’s accounts went poof on Saturday (Oct. 6).
This comes after a period of intense use where besides offering inspirational messages and his latest Yeezy designs, West also tripled down on his support of Donald Trump and dropped a haphazard, misinformed call for the abolishment of the 13th Amendment.
Maybe all the criticism got to Yeezy, or he could just be focusing on finishing his new Yandhi album.
West should use the free time he may find himself with to…read. You don’t have to issue retractions or clarifications when you’re fully informed on a topic before you drop an opinion that sounds more like speculation and conspiracy.
Just saying.

Charisse Mills landed on our radar recently after she graced the red carpet of this year’s American Music Awards in stunning fashion. The curvy singer is our latest Baes & Baddies entry for reasons that will become very apparent in a moment.
Mills hails from Trinidad and Tobago but was raised in Queens, New York. She has collaborated in the past with the likes of Ne-Yo and French Montana and has invented her own brand of music she has dubbed “Pop’Era” which is a blend of operatic singing over pop music stylings.
Mills is reemerging on the music scene by way of her latest single “Can’t Trust Myself,” which can be purchased here.

Nicole Zavala made headlines recently after an alleged incident between her and injured Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams went down over the weekend. What little we have uncovered about the sultry model and fashion maven exists mostly on social media and she’s our latest Baes and Baddies entry.
From a little Internet digging, it appears that Zavala, who is in her mid-20s, got started as a model a few years ago and parlayed her good looks in appearing in a few music videos such as J. Cole’s “Work Out” and Lloyd Bank’ “What You Talking About” featuring Jadakiss among other cameos.
Today, Zavala is popular on IG with over 220,000 followers and also maintains a couple of pages related to fashion items, including a waist trainer and women’s intimates.

Nicki Minaj had the Internet on fire last night (Oct. 29) after insinuating that Rah Ali was the one who gave Cardi B the massive knot on the side of her head and not security guards as originally stated. Cardi fired back at her rival via a series of epic Instagram video rants but it appears the ladies are calling a truce.
Before both women took the high road, there was plenty of mess and tea as the kids say, with Nicki making a series of claims and taking jabs at Cardi on Queens Radio where Tyga was a guest for the day. Everything from claims of bags getting stopped to petty gossip about song collabs that didn’t happen was discussed, including the now-infamous New York Fashion Week scuffle that was referenced at the top of this post.
Cardi was on fire last night and kept the pressure high on Nicki, almost daring for this beef to escalate to levels that neither artist should have been entertaining considering their level of fame and influence. In the end, however, Cardi appeared to agree with Nicki that they should end their beef and hopefully, that remains the last anyone hears of it.
Before the truce, there was a lot of chatter online and we’ve captured the reactions to all the happenings below, including a few parts of the IG rants.

Just as we’ve had to remind our white brothers and sisters that Blackface is never okay in recent weeks, once again Black Twitter is giving lessons to that side of the map about appropriating the culture. A Twitter user who once got into it with Nicki Minaj fans used her vast platform to call out a disturbing trend of, in her words, white women “cosplaying” as Black women.
Writer @Wannas world opened up the discussion earlier this week with the tweet below:
Can we start a thread and post all of the white girls cosplaying as black women on Instagram? Let’s air them out because this is ALARMING.
— Wanna (@WannasWorld) November 7, 2018
From there, several examples of white women putting on a classier and less abrasive form of Blackface on for the masses. Other Twitter users chimed in with their disdain as well, and the unsavory practice has been dubbed “n*ggerfishing” on the social media network.
And now, a solid word from the great Vince Staples.
Niggerfishing is caucasians posing as black and beautifuls on social media. If we catch you in the streets niggerfishing we will jump you and take your social.
— Vince Staples (@vincestaples) November 8, 2018
We’ve collected some of the responses to this rising and truly unfortunate epidemic as @WannasWorld calls it. Check them out below.

To all the office managers out there, if you’re noticing an uptick in productivity, just point to the fact that two major social media networks are down. Facebook and Instagram users are reporting slow service or an inability to log in at all and of course, they’re using Twitter to freak out about it.
Both #FacebookDown and #InstagramDown were trending earlier Tuesday morning (Nov. 20) and it seems the trend is still persisting. According to Mashable, Facebook users in the states and across Europe began reporting outages around 8:15 AM ET. A spokesperson told the outlet, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
In the meantime, Twitter is popping today and it’s mostly because people can’t write lengthy diatribes on Facebook or goof off in one of their private group boards. As for Instagram, it also appears to still have issues so sorry folks, you won’t be able to stunt or show off your struggle plates today.
Check out the reactions on Twitter to both Facebook and Instagram being down below.

If you are out there padding your Instagram stats time is definitely up for you. The photo-sharing app announced via its blog that it will be cracking down on users who use third-party apps to boost their likes and comments with fake followers.
All you faux-influencers, it’s a wrap for you.
Instagram will no longer tolerate what it describes as “inauthentic activity” on its platform. In the blog post, the Facebook-owned company announced it is focusing on its user’s use of third-party apps to artificially increase follower counts to grow their audience.
To tackle the issue, Instagram will alert accounts guilty of the behavior by sending an in-app message informing them that it “has removed the inauthentic likes, follows and comments given by their account to others.” It will also suggest the user change their password to help secure their account.
Per Instagram:
“It is our responsibility to ensure these experiences aren’t disrupted by inauthentic activity. Starting today, we will begin removing inauthentic likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity. We’ve built machine learning tools to help identify accounts that use these services and remove the inauthentic activity. This type of behavior is bad for the community, and third-party apps that generate inauthentic likes follows and comments violate our Community Guidelines and Terms of Use.”
So if you happen to stop by your favorite “influencers” Instagram page and you see their follower numbers have taken a hit you know exactly what happened. The jig is officially up now.

Cardi B is playing with a little legal fire after missing her court date earlier today (Dec. 3) in connection with the fades handed out to sisters Jade and Baddie Gi. While Bardi is toying with a Friday deadline to appear in court, we thought it’d be fine time to acclimate ourselves with the bartending baddies.
As the news has been churned by the gossip mill, Jade allegedly slept with Cardi’s husband, Offset, and she claims the Invasion Of Privacy star’s entourage handed out a fade to she and her sister, Baddie Gi.
Adding to all the many sides of this brewing battle, Jade and Baddie Gi made an appearance in Nicki Minaj’s “Good Form” video. Oddly enough, Cardi B didn’t have much to say about it thus far.
Enough of that, check out the bartending siblings, Jade and Baddie Gi below.

Nerissa Reaves earns her living as a college professor in the day while moonlighting as a model and business owner. While her intellect and strong hustle game should earn plenty of respect, the sultry teacher is also turning heads due to her show-stopping curves.
Reaves owns and operates The Honey Loaf website and Instagram page where she promotes her various ventures while also giving those turning in plenty to look at from top to bottom. Beautiful as she is brainy, Reaves has lashed back at critics who seem to think she isn’t allowed to dress in form-fitting clothes when she’s holding class.
In a recent Instagram post, Reaves hit back at critics who said that she needs to dress properly. Number one, she’s teaching folks over 18 and she isn’t wearing anything revealing. Her curves being what they are, Reaves could wear a smock and fill it out.
You’ll see why we selected her as our latest Baes and Baddies entry, but we must give her props for bossing up on all levels beyond her formidable beauty.
Check out some images and reactions to Nicole Reaves aka The Honey Loaf below.

It seems Nicki Minaj and Drake aren’t as social as they once were. The two have stopped following each other on Hip-Hop’s favorite social media tool.
As spotted on Hot New Hip-Hop the Young Money labelmates no longer are friendly on Instagram. Celebrity gossip account @TheShadeRoom took the time to verify and confirmed the disconnect.
Naturally this set off much speculation on what exactly caused the unfollows. The internets are pointing to Drizzy’s newly reignited bromance with Meek Mill as the possible reason. Neither has addressed the rumors but considering that Meek collaborated with Nicki’s former rival Cardi B on his recent Championships album maybe there is some truth to it.
While this came to many as a surprise this is not the first time Onika and Aubrey have put each other on pause. Back in 2013 he revealed they were not on speaking terms on “Tuscan Leather”. “Not even talkin’ to Nicki, communication is breakin’ / I dropped the ball on some personal sh*t, I need to embrace it / I’m honest, I make mistakes, I’d be the second to admit it / Think that’s why I need her in my life, to check me when I’m tripping”.
Chances are the two will make up eventually but in the meantime Christmas gifts seem out of the question.

Dame Dash turned heads after accusing veteran music executive Lyor Cohen of being a culture vulture, which the former Dej Jam major player rebuffed in his typically brash fashion. Funkmaster Flex took up for Cohen in a recent Instagram post, calling Dash a liar in the process.
“Dame Dash built an amazing brand (The Roc) with Biggs and JayZ! I have a tremendous amount of respect for him as an entrepreneur! I 1,000 percent understand his cockiness,” Flex wrote in the caption for an Instagram photo of Dash and Cohen.
Flex added, “He’s self made and I know u wouldn’t believe me but Jayz would have never been noticed without Dame! But in 2018 I refuse to join the cheerleading squad with Dame in the slander! Without the DefJam machine Roccafella would have died in the wind! Roccafella was being distributed though PAYDAY/FREEZE/SLEEPINGBAG/PRIORITY RECORDS(GOOGLE IT)before DefJam!!!!”
Flex continued, “Jayz would have been another great mc that faded into obscurity if he stayed in that situation! Dame made a lot of money with Lyor! All great partnerships always come to and end! Jayz went his separate way cause Dame didn’t adapt to the fact he needed to refine his personality! No one can remove u if u stay in tune to the surroundings! @duskopoppington I love u dearly my Brother… u helped me in 96 when my back was against the wall… But you are a LIAR…”
Dash responded to the rant, asking Funkmaster Flex to take the conversation offline.
